The Milk Makers
Story by Leana Thompson , Seville Resident
Describe what your Company does.
We provide breastfeeding and lactation services in the comfort of your own home. The Ultimate Mother-Baby Experience.
How long has it been in business?
Founded July 2019.
How many people does the Company employ?
What prompted you to start your own business?
Many patients in the hospital always ask me, “Can I bring you home with me?”. This is where my idea struck. Parents are overwhelmed once they leave the hospital. That is where we step in. We provide breastfeeding services from start to finish to ensure breastfeeding & pumping goes smoothly at home. It is vital for newborns to get the nutrition they need.
Anything extraordinary/unique that your Company does?
The Milk Makers provide breastfeeding and lactation services in the comfort of your own home. We understand the hassle of leaving the house for appointments with a newborn. We come to you!
Given your business expertise and the nature of what you do, what advice (whether general or specific) can you offer to the residents of your neighborhood?
If you are pregnant or plan on getting pregnant – education is key. Education before, during, and after pregnancy can help decrease stress and better prepare you and your family. Gilbert has so many resources for the mom community. This makes getting educated easy and affordable. The Milk Makers is just one of those companies!
How did you decide on this industry (events that led up to where you are now, where you went to school, etc.)?
I have been a high risk antepartum/postpartum RN for 7+ years in hospitals all across the country. This unit is commonly know as the mother-baby unit in the hospital. My passion for the mother-baby relationship continued to evolve into a sole focus on breastfeeding. I currently also work part time at a hospital in the East Valley as an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) in L&D, Postpartum, NICU, and Pediatric Unit.
